Ingredients
- 1 can Whole tomatoes - 28 oz
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 1/4 cup Onion - minced
- 1/4 tsp Dried oregano
- 1 tsp Basil - dried
- 1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes
- 3 Garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tsp Granulated sugar
- 1 tsp Kosher salt
Instructions
- Put the tomatoes into a large bowl and with a pair of kitchen scissors cut to small chunks.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat the olive oil, grated onion, oregano, basil and red pepper flake. Cook for 3 minutes stirring continuously. Add the garlic and cook for a further 30 seconds.
- Add the tomatoes, sugar and salt and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 30 minutes. For a thicker sauce simmer for a further 30 minutes.
- Cool and jar. Freezes well.
